Comprehensive Staking Technician

This training program is designed to equip staking technicians with the knowledge required to design electrical distribution facilities that will adequately serve customers of the utility. It will both train the novice and improve the skills of the experienced employee. The program is divided into three phases of four domains each.
Completion of this training program will result in certification as a qualified staking technician. To achieve certification, students must attend all classes and pass a test for each of the twelve domains. Students may re-take any test if their first try is unsuccessful.

This three-phase certification program covers the full staking process, from power line surveying and overhead design through underground distribution and contract administration. Each phase is held at SLEMCO in Lafayette, and students may register for one, two, or all three phases. Click on the phase number below to view the full course outline.

- Sizing Transformers & Conductors
- Basic Sectionalizing
- Contract Administration
