Simple Tips to Resize Files Before Submitting Your Form
Managing file sizes for photos and PDFs doesn’t have to be complicated. When filling out our online forms, keeping file sizes small ensures faster uploads, smoother submissions, and fewer errors. Below, you’ll find simple steps to reduce photo and PDF file sizes on any device — so you can complete your form quickly and without any trouble.
Method to Compress A PFD File in Adobe
- Fast Method (File Menu):
- Open the PDF.
- Select File> Save as Other > Reduced Size PDF.
- Select Acrobat compatibility (e.g., 10.0 or later) and click OK.
Method to Compress Photos on a PC Computer
- Windows Photos App:
- Open your image in the Photos app.
- Click the three-dot menu (…) at the top and select Resize image.
- Choose a preset (Small, Medium, Large) or “Define custom dimensions” to adjust width/height.
- Adjust the quality slider to reduce the file size further.
- MS Paint (Windows):Open the file in Paint, click “Resize,” and reduce the percentage of pixels.
Method to Compress Photos on a Mac Computer
- Mac’s Preview App:
- Open the photo in Preview (just double-click the file)
- Go to Tools → Adjust Size
- Reduce the width/height dimensions (e.g., bring it down to 1200px wide)
- Click OK.
- Go to File → Export
- Choose JPEG as the format
- Adjust the Quality slider to the left to reduce file size
- Click Save
Reducing Photo File Size on Your Phone
- Before Taking a Photo on iPhone:
- Go to Settings → Camera → Formats and select Most Compatible to ensure photos are saved as standard JPEG files, which work on any website or device.
- Before Taking a Photo on Android:
- Open your Camera app and go to Settings (the gear icon).
- Look for Picture Size or Resolution
- Choose a lower setting
- Or Look for Advanced Picture Options and select the jpeg format
- Be sure to turn Off the High Efficiency Pictures toggle.
- For an Existing Photo on an iPhone Using the Files App
- Open the Photosapp and select the image.
- Tap the Share iconand select Save to Files.
- Open the Filesapp and locate the image.
- Long-press the image, select Quick Actions, then choose Convert Image.
- Select JPEGand choose a smaller size (e.g., Medium or Small)
- For an Existing Photo on an Android Using the Google Photos App
- Open the Google Photos app and select the image.
- Tap Edit → Export and choose a lower resolution before saving
